Discussion was made on the difference between the “Mentality of Abundance vs the Mentality of Scarcity”.  The staff in this consortium are challenged to embrace the “Mentality of Abundance” as they both deliver services and consider how we can structure our services to be more effective for our clients.

1.  Delivery of Services

Fact:  Marshall classes are seeing a reduced number of students due to the fact many have obtained jobs.

Fact:  ABE Office has no desire to reduce hours each teacher provides.

Challenge:  How do we re-allocate our resources (staff) to more effectively serve the students?

General Ideas Generated:

  1. Taking classes to a student’s residence if enough others are also willing to attend.
  2. Providing more specific math classes
  3. A.M. City Side and/or Sunrise classes with math emphasis
  4. Integrating technology into the classroom
  5. Handing out cards to persons we meet in public inviting their participation in our classes.
  6. Hanging posters

Plan:  If you shared one of the ideas, please submit with specific plan.  All ideas should be submitted to Charles by Tuesday (10/21/03).  He will then post them for all to be able to review.  Next meeting to be held on 10/23/03 at 3:30 p.m. to identify specific tasks to utilize our resources in the most effective manner.

2.  Web Site – Charles has asked staff to send him written material and ideas that would better share the Marshall program with potential students on our website.
