Volunteer Training Standards Policy and Outline - As stated in Minnesota ABE law, all ABE instructional staff are required to complete a training course in teaching adult learners. In partnership with the Minnesota Literacy Council (MLC), the supplemental service provider that contracts with MDE-ABE to train volunteer ABE instructors, a Volunteer Training Standards Policy was developed. This policy took effect July 1, 2006. A training plan outline is required if a state-funded ABE program enlists volunteers who provide instruction that generates contact hours and does not use the training provided by the MLC.
The Volunteer Training Outline needs to be completed and submitted electronically to Anne Marie Leland, email@example.com by January 31, 2007. The training plan will be reviewed by MDE-ABE and the MLC. Notification of approval or request for further information will be sent electronically to the ABE Program Manager or contact listed on the plan.
Both the ABE Volunteer Training Standards Policy and the Volunteer Training Outline can be found on both the MDE-ABE website, http://mnabe.themlc.org/Volunteers2.html and the MLC website http://www.themlc.org/program.html.
If you are having difficulty opening these links or in finding the documents, please email Anne Marie Leland, firstname.lastname@example.org or Rob Podlasek with the MLC, rpodlasek@theMLC.org
