MAVA Community Outreach Coordinator positions

Your help is needed to recruit dynamic candidates for 4 MAVA Community Outreach Coordinator positions.  MAVA is starting an exciting new partnership with the AmeriCorps VISTA program.  We will become the sponsor organization for four placements beginning in July, 2007.  These VISTA volunteers will work in four locations around the state to help us grow MAVA and implement the Volunteer Resources Leadership Initiative.  Participating organizations hosting our volunteers will be the St. Cloud Health Center, the United Way Volunteer Center in Rochester, Southwest Initiative Foundation in Hutchinson and Lutheran Social Service in Fergus Falls.

Please think of the people you know: a skilled volunteer, an intern you are working with, a family member or friend, a member of the community who is in transition to the workforce or a new career, an older citizen who may be retired early or still interested in making a meaningful contribution.  The positions provide a living allowance of $865/month, with some very good benefits.  Review the attached position posting and send some good candidates our way. The positions are also posted on the AmeriCorps and Minnesota Council for Non-profits websites.

Community Outreach Coordinators

Work with a wide-variety of non-profit organizations in one of four multi-county regions of Minnesota to build their capacity to engage volunteers.   Volunteers are essential to the mission of non-profits who work to eliminate poverty by helping families, youth and seniors make positive changes in their lives.

As a VISTA, you would work with the Minnesota Association of Volunteer Administration (MAVA at http://www.mavanetwork.org/), a national leader in volunteerism, to implement a new model of community-based and peer-to-peer volunteer capacity building.  This cutting-edge model is called the Volunteer Resources Leadership (VRL) initiative.  The regional Coordinators will help link non-profits to current MAVA resources, organize training workshops, as well as assess community needs and plan for further initiatives. The four MAVA VISTA positions will be based in Rochester, Hutchinson, St. Cloud and Fergus Falls, Minnesota and will also work with a host organization in each location.

The positions require a full-time service commitment for one-year, starting with VISTA training in Chicago July 10-13. Through AmeriCorps and MAVA, VISTA benefits include training in volunteer leadership, a monthly living allowance of $865, limited health coverage, mileage reimbursement, childcare assistance if eligible, and choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend upon successful completion of service.  Applications are being accepted March 12, 2007 until positions are filled. For more information e-mail your contact information to office@mavanetwork.org and attach a resume.
