Study Circle on
Transitioning to Postsecondary Education
April 27, 2007
This Study Circle involves two group meetings
and discussion together on an Internet Discussion Board while working on tasks
between the two group meetings. CEUs will be awarded for 10 to 20 hours,
depending on individual time on task between group meetings. One staff from
each region is encouraged to participate. Maximum: 8
Outcomes of the Study Circle:
Understand various models ABE programs
use to help students transition to post secondary education.
Decide on a plan for ABE programs to
assist students in enrollment and success in post secondary education.
What can we do to academically prepare
students for post secondary?
What can we do technically to help the
students to enroll (forms, counseling, etc.)
Make a plan to collaborate with
college(s) in the local ABE program’s area.
Organization of the Three Sessions
Before Session One
Promote Study Circle within the
region. Participants will register for the study circle.
Participants will receive cover letter
with information about the study circle and readings to prepare for
“Approaches to ABE Transition to
Postsecondary Education” by Judith Alamprese

Two-hour session at the regional training.
Discuss five models of ABE transition to

local ABE program.
Discuss what needs to be done to implement
Agree on individual assignments for Session

assignments and communicate on the discussion board, when meet again, etc.)
