Tech Tip - Printing Tips

There are some ways you can print a document or parts of a document that perhaps you haven’t thought about.  When you select Print from the File menu, you will see a section in the Print dialog box called Page Range.  Here’s some neat ways you can customize your print jobs.  These printing tips work in Word and many of them also work in other programs.

Print a Selection from your document:  Select (highlight by dragging over) a part of the text you want to print.  Select the Print menu and click on Selection in the Page Range box.

Print the current page:  If you have several pages in a document and you just want to print the page you are currently at, click on Current Page in the Page Range box.

Print selected pages.  if you want to print select pages, click on the  Pages button in the Page Range box, and type in the page numbers in the box.  Example:  1, 3, 4, 6

Print back to back pages:  You can print the odd number pages by typing 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.  Then put those printed pages back in the printer, and print the even number pages by typing in 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 – that’s it, you have back to  back copies.  (Note - be sure you put the paper in the right way – better run a test sheet!)

Print page ranges:  You can print a range of pages.  Example:  3-8 will print from page 3 to page 8.

Print combinations of selected pages and page ranges.  Example:  1, 3, 5-8, 11, 15

Print in reverse order:  You can print from the last page to the first page.  Example:  10–1

Go Wild - Print anyway you want.  Just mix it up like:  17, 3, 8, 10-13, 1

Print from any point to the end:  Example:  25–  will print from page 25 to the end of the document.

Print from the first page to any other page:  Example:   –25 will print from the beginning to page 25.

There are many other options in your Print Dialog Box – check them and get the most out of your printer.
