TO OPEN YOUR MIND

The Minnesota Literacy Council is now accepting submissions of original student writing, poetry, and art work for the 2007 edition of To Open Your Mind. Submissions are due by 4:30 p.m. February 16, 2007 (late submissions will not be accepted).

Click on the links below to read step by step guidelines and to download a Submission Form.

Since we’re requiring that entries be submitted electronically this year via the official Student Entry Form (which is included in the attached file), I’ve been asked to provide a guide to the process. That guide is included below. I’ve tried to be as specific and detailed as possible, but since computer systems vary, there may be differences in details of the procedures. If your have questions, please feel free to give me a call or send me an email.

To Open Your Mind is a collection of writing and art work by learners in adult literacy programs in Minnesota. This publication serves a variety of purposes including:

bullet

recognizing learners for their accomplishments;

bullet

motivating learners to continue to improve their literacy skills and achieve their academic goals;

bullet

providing a teaching resource to volunteers and teachers to use in Adult Basic Education (ABE) instruction; and

bullet

increasing awareness of adult literacy needs in Minnesota.

We welcome submissions from learners of all levels.
